Totally Thames is an annual month long arts and cultural season across the 42 mile stretch of the Thames that works with partners to present an accessible and vibrant river inspired programme throughout September.
This year’s Totally Thames runs from 1-30 September and we're on the lookout for arts, cultural or river-interest partners to get in touch. The types of events we are looking to programme include work that connects audiences to the River Thames such as pop-up performances, opportunities to discover and explore the river, live theatre, music or art, creative workshops to spoken word.
The 2017 programme includes commissions and work with artists and partners inspired by the following themes. We welcome partners to consider and respond to these in their submissions, where possible:
River littering through plastic pollution is a timely and global environmental issue that affects the Thames, waterways and oceans. The World Economic Forum has predicted there will be more plastic, measured in weight, than fish in the sea by 2050
300th Anniversary of Handel's Water Music that was premiered on a royal barge travelling from Whitehall Palace to Chelsea in 1717
Stories of the River from the Thames as a working river to its rich heritage and history to communities and cultures
The deadline for submissions is Friday 7 April and is now closed. We aim to get back to all applicants by Tuesday 18 April.
Successful submissions will receive support and advice from the team and be part of the Totally Thames marketing and press campaign. If you have any questions feel free to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org
