Back for the fourth year, Composer and Curator Iain Chambers will fill the South Bascule Chamber beneath Tower Bridge with subterranean sounds from Thursday 20 - Sunday 23 September. The Bascule Chamber houses Tower Bridge's huge counterweights during lifting. When the bridge is at rest, this dramatic brick-lined space stands empty. Meet the artists going underground for the hottest music ticket in this unique space...
"The Bascule Chamber is one of London's most surprising and inspiring spaces. The last thing you expect to find within such an iconic structure is a quasi-theatrical brick-lined space with a resonant acoustic. You hear boats passing above your head – you're beneath the line of the Thames. This year we'll be exploring the space's acoustic in new ways, allowing audiences to hear how beautiful vocal music sounds in this vast subterranean cathedral" Iain Chambers
