As part of the Thames Festival 2012 programme we bring you an exciting new interactive audio installation developed by artist collective Output Arts.
Using only the public imagination and specially adapted metal detectors, participants will be able to discover fragments of sound buried in the sand. The installation will be augmented with a programme of community engagement and environmental enhancement activities delivered by Thames 21.
The audio will be collected from interviews with the local community responding to the broad subject of 'loss'. Stories range from lost car keys to innocence, the mundane to the extraordinary, and the humorous to the poignant: Lost and Sound is a playful and intimate portrayal of a community.
The installation is augmented with a programme of foreshore activities by Thames21, a charity that works to improve our rivers, canals, ponds and lakes for people and wildlife.
