The barge-driving races re-enact the way Thames Watermen skilfully manoeuvred their barges on the Thames in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Modern-day Watermen and Lightermen compete in the main race, while the Newcomers' Race is for friends, family and apprentices.
