The Opera Box present
The Oval Portrait by Edward Lambert & The Impresario by W. A. Mozart
Thu 7 Sep
Following the success of their 2016 production at Totally Thames, The Opera Box have teamed up with The Music Troupe.
Set in atmospheric surroundings of the Brunel Museum, the evening features the new opera The Oval Portrait by Edward Lambert and a new English translation of Mozart’s The Impresario by Mark Burns. A truly unique opportunity to experience opera in one of London’s most enchanting venues.
The Oval Portrait is based on Edgar Allen Poe’s short story and the action sees us taken us to a remote castle where a visitor arrives and is disturbed by the portrait of a young woman. As her husband painted her, the picture came alive - while she lived on only in his art...
Mozart’s The Impresario is an hilarious, light-hearted take on the dilemma theatre companies face when dealing with divas. Set in the present day, Mark Burns’ new English translation shows us just how much things haven’t changed in the 230 years since this piece was first premiered.
