An unusual river walk which will introduce you to the subterranean side of the capital.

Meet at Bermondsey tube station for a walk along the river to Rotherhithe featuring the best view of Tower Bridge. Along the way you will see old riverside pubs and the pirate's lair where Captain Kidd was executed on the foreshore. Judge Jeffreys (a.k.a. "the hanging judge" due to his brutal sentences) haunts The Angel pub. This is old, forgotten London, where one king came to escape the plague and a princess came to escape attention, where Vikings landed and the Pilgrim Fathers sailed. Gulliver’s Travels began here, and so did Brunel’s adventures ... and beneath it all trains rumble through the famous Thames Tunnel.
